What is Custom PPT?

Custom PPT allows you to create your own custom PowerPoint presentations by building collections of slides from presentations that reside on vPortal. Once a collection has been created, you may re-name the custom presentation, change the order of and delete slides, and export your custom PowerPoint presentations to save on your local machine.  See also My Custom PPT for more information on managing and exporting your Custom PPTs.

Create a new Custom PPT collection

To create a Custom PPT, find a presentation by using the search form or by browsing an event. Below the presentation titles, a Custom PPT link will be visible for presentations with Custom PPT enabled. Click the  Custom PPT or Browse link to browse the presentation and to preview the slides for the presentation.

To use a slide or slides in a Custom PPT, follow these steps:

1.Move your mouse cursor over the titles to activate the Slide Toolbar for each slide. A thumbnail of each slide will appear on the right side of the screen below the active slide row. Above the thumbnail are three tabs: View, Info, and Add to Custom PPT.

2.Select a slide you would like to use in your Custom PPT. Click Add to Custom PPT. The Slide Toolbar will expand to show additional options:
Add to Existing...
Add to New
Add this slide / Add all slides.

3.In Add to New, enter a name for your Custom PPT.
4.Click 'Add'. A progress graphic will appear, indicating your new Custom PPT collection is being created using the selected slide. When the process completes, you will see the name of your new Custom PPT appear in the Add to Existing... list.

Note: A link directly to the Custom PPT collection to which you added a slide is visible above Add to New. This link takes you to Edit mode for that Custom PPT.

 

Add Slides to an existing collection

Once you have created at least one Custom PPT collection, you can add additional slides from any Custom PPT-enabled presentation by following these steps:

1.Click Build Custom PPT next to your selected presentation. Move your mouse cursor over the slide titles to reveal the Slide Toolbar.
2.Click Add to Custom PPT. Under the Add to Existing... list, select the Custom PPT collection to which you will add the selected slide. The progress graphic indicates your slide is being added. When the process completes, you will see a link above Add to New... This link takes you to Edit mode for that collection.

Note: Once you have expanded the Slide Toolbar to reveal the Add to Custom PPT options, it will remain expanded as you move your cursor over other slide titles. This allows you to add multiple slides to your Custom PPT quickly and easily.

 

Add All Slides to a Custom PPT collection

By default, the Add to Custom PPT options are set to Add this slide, which only adds one selected slide at a time. However, if you wish to use all or most of an existing presentation in your Custom PPT, use Add all slides.

To add all slides to a Custom PPT collection, follow these steps:

1.Click Build Custom PPT next to your selected presentation.
2.Move your mouse cursor over the slide titles to reveal the Slide Toolbar.
3.Select Add to Custom PPT. At the top left corner of the Slide Toolbar, select Add all slides.
4.Select a Custom PPT collection from the Add to existing... list. Or, create a new collection using Add to new functionality. (See section Add Slides to an Existing Custom PPT collection.)
The progress graphic indicates your slide is being added. When the process completes, you will see a link above Add to New... This link takes you to Edit mode for that Custom PPT collection.

Note: The Add all slides remains selected as you move your cursor over new slides on the same page. You may change your options back to Add this slide in order to return to single slide mode. When a page is loaded or refreshed or when browsing to a different page, the 'Add this slide' (single slide mode) option will be automatically selected.
